The ancient market town of Framlingham is nestled in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. It was voted ‘the best place to the live in the country’ back in 2006, and is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. There are lots of activities to be enjoyed in this small town including a shop and stroll around its plethora of boutiques, excellent cafes, tea shops, pubs and restaurants. Enjoy a visit to the 12th Century Framlingham Castle up on the hill, surrounded by peaceful parkland, perfect for dog walkers and bird spotting. English Heritage regularly host special events at the castle, so keep an eye on their website for the latest. Other annual events: Fram Gala (August), The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival (October) and Christmas Market (December) well worth a visit.

Discover Framlingham’s history

Once a fearsome fortress, muster your courage and explore Framlingham Castle’s towering walls. It was behind these walls that Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen of England. With childrens activites and regular special events, this castle makes for a great day out for all the family.

Shop ’til you drop

On market days (Saturdays and Tuesdays 6am – 4pm) you can get a variety of fresh produce including fish, bread, cakes, flowers, donuts and coffees as well as giftware, homeware, clothing and more. You can also browse many fabulous boutiques and stores that surround the square. You’ll find plenty of ways to spend your money.

A leisurely and informative walk

For a leisurely walk with a little bit of history along the way why not take the Framlingham Town Trail. The handy guide informs you of several prominent buildings and places of historic relevance around this historic market town.

Framlingham has something to suit every palette. FRAMLINGHAM COUNTRY SHOW

April

The grounds of Framlingham College are filled with people for the Country Show each April. With dog shows, cookery demonstrations, dance displays, motor stunts, chainsaw carving, unique stalls, Punch and Judy, live music and more, there is something to entertain people of all ages.

THE GREAT FRAMLINGHAM SAUSAGE FESTIVAL

October

An opportunity to sample sausages from local butchers and producers and crown a champion. This annual festival fills Framlingham with the smell of barbequed meats and attracts foodies from far and wide. Perfect for families with activities for children, entertainment and live music throughout the town.

FRAMLINGHAM CHRISTMAS MARKET

November / December

A special event hosted by Framlingham Business Association for locals and tourists alike with the official switch on of the Christmas lights. Featuring a Christmas Market, late night shopping and entertainment, you can pick up a few last minute gifts and soak up the atmosphere.
